Creating social stories on the iPad (with apps like storykit and Book Creator) allow teachers to add sound, video and text to speech functions to help make the story more meaningful and engaging for students, especially those with disabilities. Also, it allows the students to be involved in the creation of their own social stories, giving them ownership over the topics.
